CHRISTMAS TIME IN THE BIG APPLE

This weekend we headed up to the Rockefeller Center to see all the Christmas lights. Sadly I think everyone else in NYC had the same idea. It was packed with people! We didn't get to see all that I wanted to see because making our way through the crowds was insane. So we sanpped a few pics and then made our way to some food. The few we did get are blurry, so I am hoping to make it up there again after Christmas.

SEW WHAT?

The last couple of days I have been trying to update our blog, I have been wanting to post pictures of the Christmas tree and lights we saw up at Rockefeller Center but my computer hasn't let me upload any pics! I don't know why. The only picture I got to upload was this one... So now I'm posting about this! For those of you that know me you will be surprised to know that I made this skirt! Yes ME! All by myself!
Isn't it cute! I am not a sewer, when I do sew I normally just make up my own thing and go with it! But this time I actually followed directions and took measurements added and subtracted to get the cuts right. I know it's silly and this is a boring post for everyone else but I was proud of myself and surprised that it actually turned out! Hopefully I will be able to get my Christmas pics up soon! Until then you can all enjoy my skirt, and wish you had one this cute! :)

October

A couple weeks ago I had the opportunity to do a five mile walk in Central Park for strides against breast cancer. It was such an awesome experience! I had so much fun, and it was amazing to see all the support that came out. I hope to make a tradition. Thank you again do all those that helped and donated.

Here are just some random pictures of a few of our weekend outings. The first few are Central Park we went out to take some pictures of the fall colors, but they are just now really starting to change. It's crazy how a huge park in the middle of huge city can make you feel like you are out in the middle of the country. It was nice "get away." The next few are of the Brooklyn bridge. You can walk all the way across it above the cars and everything so you get a really neat view of the city. It was amazing! We walked across and then ate the best pizza down by the peirs on the Brooklyn side. It was alot of fun.

Home and Craft

I finally got a few things put away and the apt. somewhat put together so I could take pictures for those of you that have been asking. Here they are! It is small but it fits us just fine for now. Enjoy.

MY CRAFT! I had so much fun making this, it consumed me all day today so that I could have it ready to post on the blog tonight. It took all weekend to find a craft store here, they are very limited in Manhattan (which almost makes me want to open one of my own!) After trying three different stores in the city, that should be ashamed to call themselves craft stores, I decided to venture north to my friend Michaels! The hour long trip was worth every minute! It made me feel like I was back home again!

Toothpaste Fun :)

So we found this little gadget on a really cool website called slickdeals.net. It is a toothpaste roller upper thingy m' bob that has a suction cup to hang it on the mirror. I think it is pretty nifty and we got it for like 78 cents. It's now not on sale but is still only like a $1.60 with free shipping. Here are some pictures of it and why it is so cool. Here is the link to get to the product which in linked through slickdeals.net: http://www.meritline.com/rolling-toothpaste-squeezer---p-27260.aspx

P.S. Falycia wanted me to clarify that this is my (Kirk's) post. Also the purchasing of this completely indispensable toothpaste roller was solely my doing. Falycia is embarassed by this post and wishes to not be associated with it in any way, shape, or form.

NYC BABY!!!!!

So it has been a while since we have done a good quality post, so we are going to try and do some catching up tonight. We arrived in New York the 16th and are getting settled into our apartment. It is a studio apartment on the 25th floor right on the east river. Our view is a little obstructed by a neighboring building, but is still decent.
The first two are from our window

Our apt. sits right on the water so this is the view from down on the Plaza.

We had to take a picture of Kirk by the Manhattan Red Lobster for old times sake.

We spent one afternoon at Times Square it was a lot of fun.

Well that's all the pics for now! Kirk started orientation this week, which has been pretty easy. They mostly just have fun things lined up for them to do to get to know each other. But next week the real work begins! He is excited! We are doing good and have been enjoying the city so far. We are finding out all the new things about city living, you can have anything you ever wanted delivered and most people do, cockroaches can still make it to the 25th floor, the shake shack line is always long no matter what time you go, and always have on a good pair of walking shoes and an umbrella! Oh the city. That's all for now! We will keep you posted.

STEELHEAD FISHING

So last month I (Kirk) had the opportunity to go steelhead (oceangoing trout) fishing in Idaho with my Dad and some friends. I had a blast, the fishing was awesome, the scenery some of the best, and the company wasn't too bad either. The first few days I went up with my old bishop Dee Wheeler and his son Todd. The fishing was great the first day between the 3 of us we probably landed nearly 30 fish and lost many more. Then my dad was able to drive up early Friday morning and fish all day Friday and Saturday. We drove back Saturday afternoon, and then I had some friends from the RL come into town Sunday night and we drove back up to fish more on Monday and Tuesday.
So when we got to the Salmon river on Monday morning with my buddies the water had come up a ton, so where we had been fishing the week before with my dad was unfishable. We spent most of Monday morning just trying to find somewhere that was fishable and we finally found it early afternoon. It was fun to get Shawn and Josh into some fish. It was their first time steelhead fishing and we had a blast. Here are a few pictures from my trip with them. It was good to spend quality time in the outdoors with good friends and family.

Birthday Fun

I had a Birthday! I turned 24 this year! Wow I feel so old! It was a fun day, Katie and Jason come over from CA and surprised me. I was so excited to see them and very surprised. We went out to dinner, opened presents and then to a movie. It was a good day! Sadly though this was the only picture I got, I kept meaning to get one of all of us but never did so here is Katie and I!

Kirk's family was in town this weekend and we celebrated my birthday again, they took me out to Texas Road House yuuummm! It was so good. Someone slipped it to the waiter it was my birthday and so I had to get on a saddle while they yelled out to everyone that it was my birthday! I was very red! We had a good time though saddle and all.

Weekend With The Kids!

We took Kevin and Charisa's kids a couple weekends back, to give them a little break in their crazy busy lives! We had so much fun! Here is just a small peak of it...
